Limaland and TRR Update: COVID-19

Greetings Cycling Friends,

We hope all of you are well and continue in good health through these difficult times both for the illness and dealing with quarantine measures.  Hopefully it’s apparent now why we were early in suspending group club activities as a reasonable precaution.  We had suspicion this was going to turn into weeks of disruption and that’s exactly what has happened.  As you realize, Ohio is under stay at home orders until May 1st as of now.  TRR will not do or recommend anything that we do not see as safe and/or in line with government orders.  Our board and Tour directors have reviewed the situation and provide the following updates:

Club Group rides are still suspended.  Even once they are re-opened it will likely be prudent to be careful about not showing up to rides ill, increased group distancing, etc.  We will offer suggestions once this changes.

-The April 25th meeting is postponed.  Since we went to a 2 meeting schedule this year instead of 3, we will likely reschedule for late May or June or whenever possible.

-All club projects for 2020 are on pause at this time: new member t-shirts, Ascend member clothing order, Riverwalk Keep Right safety project, likely all youth safety rodeos.

-We still encourage you to get out and ride with anyone within your immediate housing situation or close daily contact assuming you are not ill.  Or ride by yourself.  Please exercise increased precaution for all outdoor riding to avoid accidents.  The roads are actually with slightly less traffic at this time.

Limaland NOTICE:  Tour Registration is temporarily suspended as of April 11th.  We are monitoring the details of the Covid-19 situations both local and regional as well as quarantine restrictions.  On or before May 2nd we will re-open registration or have to suspend the tour for 2020.  We have to be sure we can offer a quality and safe event for all participants and volunteers as well as adhering to government requirements.  All options and ideas are currently being reviewed for how and if we can host a responsible tour.  The reality is that we might have to cancel.  The hope and reasonable assumption is that it will be possible to host a modified tour.  We hope everyone is well and will do our best to do the safest and best for all.  Thank you for all of your support and understanding.  We wish everyone safety, good health and enjoyable riding in 2020.  ~Team Roadrunners Bicycle Club

TRR Group Rides – Virus Avoidance

Hello Cycling Friends.  It’s with much regret that we’ve decided to temporarily suspend our group rides for the situation with COVID-19 and quarantine issues.  We definitely do no want to, but feel it’s prudent.  Both USA Cycling and League of American Bicyclists have recommended the same this week for all cycling groups.  Although the actual severity and exact transfer modes are still not fully understood of the virus, groups of cyclists have been known to catch the virus around the world already.  Also, some countries such as Italy have temporarily suspended public cycling recently.  Although not entirely for quarantine issues, but because of the extremely limited hospital space if any cycling accident would happen.  So, here is the plan:

-TRR Group Rides are canceled until further notice, expecting 2-3 weeks.  Possibly more.

-We recommend not group riding outside of club rides other than immediate family and possibly one or two other regular adjoining riders.  “Social Distancing” is a proven deterrent to the spread of coronavirus.

-Keep regular precautions for extra traveling distance and be very careful about wind and the direction of all spit, sweat, breath, etc. if choosing to ride with others who are not your immediate family.

-We will stop all public riding if it would come down to it by government order.  As of now, there appears no scientific or logical reason all public riding should be stopped.  Also, if the local hospitals would happen to become full we would recommend to use caution for outdoor riding.

-Do not ride with anyone if you feel ill and if you become ill with symptoms of coronavirus (difficulty breathing, coughing, fever), please notify previous riding partners of the past two weeks.

-Limaland Tour is still scheduled and no plan to cancel at this time. We will review if necessary in the coming weeks/months.
